About LeadingAge Arizona

LeadingAge Arizona: Not-for-Profit Leaders in Housing, Hospitality, Healthcare and Community-Based Services for the elderly.

LeadingAge Arizona members share a deep sense of mission and a commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults and others with special needs. Most are not-for-profit organizations with religious or fraternal affiliations. The association serves its members by providing leadership, education, advocacy, and opportunities for collaboration to help them achieve their respective missions.

We are also affiliated with LeadingAge (formerly AAHSA), a Washington D.C.-based national membership organization of non-profit voluntary and governmental homes and service providers for the aging.

Under the broad categories of Advocacy, Communication, Member Services and Education, LeadingAge Arizona currently assists its members in the following ways.

Advocacy:

From its inception, LeadingAge Arizona has been there at the forefront of political action and public policy development in Arizona. With the help of our lobbyist, Don Isaacson, and an effective grassroots network, LeadingAge Arizona maintains a significant presence in both the legislative and regulatory arenas.

Advocacy efforts take many forms and often involve member participation at political functions, legislative hearings, meetings with state or national lawmakers and key staff of regulatory agencies. To ensure timely and effective access to Arizona state legislators, LeadingAge Arizona offers members an online link to Arizona’s legislators through Contact Your Legislator. This program complements the national LeadingAge online advocacy initiative, Contact Congress.

In addition, our participation in non-legislative advocacy, public affairs, coalitions and workgroups are also part of the overall association policy goals.

Communication:

In this era of fast-changing regulation and management practices, LeadingAge Arizona keeps members informed so they can better serve seniors and meet their collective mission of service throughout the entire state. Our staff continuously filters volumes of news and passes critical information along to members in a concise, understandable format.

In addition, LeadingAge Arizona’s committees, advisory councils, and networking groups update members on industry activity and help them prepare for changes by sharing information and networking with colleagues. These forums also give members a chance to be involved in the development of association policies and priorities.

Member Services:

LeadingAge Arizona is always on the lookout for win-win opportunities between member facilities and business members. Our communications regularly include savings or services offered by LeadingAge Arizona’s business members. On a broader scale, we also provide administrative and department level staff with a complete list of contact and service information describing its business members.

LeadingAge Arizona frequently arranges for free informational series as well. These allow members to ask questions and seek advice from knowledgeable professionals in the areas of legal services, accounting and HUD audit services, healthcare facility billing, HIPAA compliance, and even pest control.

In partnership with our national parent organization, we’re also able to offer members affordable customized products and services designed specifically for long-term care and senior housing providers.

Education:

LeadingAge Arizona offers a broad range of educational and training opportunities for administrators, managers and facility staff members in retirement communities, HUD elderly housing, healthcare, and assisted living facilities.

Our educational programming is geared toward meeting the needs of any personnel involved in the operations of member facilities, while also helping members adapt quickly to unanticipated regulatory changes. Seminars provide participants with “how-to” tips on the best ways to take what they learn back to their facility and impact the quality of care and life for their residents.

LeadingAge Arizona hosts an Annual Conference and Exposition. Attendees learn about and discuss the latest issues and trends in long-term care and senior housing and enhance their own professional skills. This event also gives business members and others an opportunity to showcase new technology in the field and educate facility staff members about their products and services.
